SLWB. Day 42 -Studio 2-Take II. Monday, August 9, 2010. The Night Before Shutdown

The inevitable approaches.

Many weeks later it seems appropriate and timely. Changes are no longer evident. The only noticeable changes are in the state of sill lives disarray caused by the creatures lucky to have discovered such wealth of sustenance and their boldness. The mice don't seem to mind our presence.

Reluctant acceptance sets in for me. More than a project, the still lives have become everything but still and an object of art.

The shutdown will be gradual. The cauliflower and lemons will be shut down tomorrow. Grahame is still waiting on one of the quinces to display signs of rotting. It has been holding its fresh green color for a while, standing out like an oddity from the rest of the fruits. Perhaps the remote in the platter will also appear more clearly in Grahame's images.

On Saturday, the cheese is scheduled for shutdown and an ultimate sign of the end of this phase of the project - studio deconstruction and clean-up on Sunday.

However comforting, giving time to ease into the closing, the slowness of the end approaching may be more dramatic.

Tonight is the last night for the cauliflower and lemons.
The last night for the living creatures to feast on what is left there to eat.
The last night for the vibrant organic sculptures to please our eyes.
